FAQ's

3D projectors work by projecting two slightly different images which overlap on the screen. These images are passed through special optical filters which results in the light being polarised in a different way for each of the projections. When you view the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of the images, meaning that your left eye sees one image and your right eye the other image.

It's therefore really important that the projection screen you use does not change the polarity of the light if you are using a 3D projector. All of our paint products are "polarity preserving" which means that the image you see will be exactly the same polarity as is intended, preserving the full 3D effect.

Once applied to your wall, our Projector Paints provide an ideal projection surface. Set up your projector and direct it towards the painted wall. The projector screen wall paint works with most projectors, including interactive ones. Smart Projector Screen Paint Pro is not suitable for outdoor projections for outdoor projection choose our Outdoor Projection Paint.

Choose Smart Projector Screen Paint Pro for high-performance projection in an office or learning environment which natural light is present

The recommended lighting to use alongside Smart Projector Paint Pro is normal to high ambient light it will of course also work very well in low ambient light.

Gain refers to a screen's ability to amplify and reflect the brightness of a projected image. It measures how efficiently the screen reflects light back to the viewer’s eyes. The gain value is expressed as the ratio of the screen’s reflective ability compared to a standard reference surface, typically a matte white screen with a gain of 1.0.

A screen's gain value indicates the amount of reflective lumens it provides. Higher gain values reflect more light, resulting in a brighter image. Conversely, lower gain values reflect less light, producing a dimmer image.

It's important to note that the choice of gain depends on the specific viewing environment and the desired viewing experience. Factors such as ambient light, screen size, projector brightness, and audience seating arrangement all play a role in determining the optimal gain for a given situation.

The choice of gain depends on factors such as ambient lighting, screen size, projector brightness, and seating arrangement. Selecting the optimal gain ensures the best viewing experience for a specific environment.

Gain influences the brightness of the projected image and the quality of viewing angles. It affects the clarity and viewing angle's width and dictates how effectively the screen reflects light.

Not necessarily. A projector screen with a higher gain can offer a brighter image from specific angles, but it might reduce brightness from other viewpoints. Generally, higher-gain screens have a narrower viewing angle.

The standard gain for a projector screen is typically 1.0, ensuring uniform brightness and visibility from different angles. However, the ideal gain varies based on personal preferences and the specific environment. It’s important to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of both high and low gain screens to find the most suitable option for your setup.

High gain screens provide clear, bright images in lightning environments, improve visibility in darker conditions, reflect less ambient light from surrounding walls and ceilings, and minimize light leakage from fabric screens, making them effective in areas with general lighting.

High gain screens have a narrow viewing angle, requiring viewers to sit directly in front of the screen for optimal brightness. The reduced viewing angles can make them unsuitable for large audiences, and they are not recommended for outdoor use.

Low gain screens offer a wider viewing angle, ensuring that larger groups have a consistent viewing experience. They diffuse light more evenly, reducing the projector’s brightness in indoor settings.

Low gain screens may not be bright enough for outdoor use due to their lower brightness levels, tend to reject some light from the projector, and may not deliver enough contrast for clear image visibility.

Blended projections are a popular technique for creating immersive and dynamic visual experiences, commonly used in settings like art installations, theatres, and large presentations. Achieving seamless and cohesive projections depends heavily on the choice of projection screen. Our projection screen paint is formulated to support the blending of multiple projections on one surface, yielding impressive results.

To ensure smooth transitions between images, blending projections requires accurate colors, consistent brightness, and excellent light diffusion. Our projection screen paint is prepared with these factors in mind, enabling a cohesive, immersive display.

For large-scale screens, our projection screen paint removes the need for bulky and costly physical screens, offering a more flexible and cost-effective option for blending projections. Turn any space into an immersive canvas where multiple projections blend beautifully, capturing the attention of your audience.

Yes, our paint works excellently with both 2D and 3D projectors, ensuring the best performance in all projection modes. For 3D projections, it seamlessly enhances the experience, creating an immersive effect when used with 3D glasses.

The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) measures the amount of sound energy a material absorbs when sound waves pass through it. In our tests, we measured the SAC for a 12mm gypsum board, a typical building material.

SAC values can differ based on the sound wave frequency that passes through the material, as various wavelengths interact with the material in distinct ways. Therefore, SAC values are presented as a range, as they vary with the frequency of the sound waves. The results from our tests are as follows:

Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07
Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

These values reflect the SAC for both unpainted and painted 12mm gypsum boards. The SAC range of 0.04-0.07 shows that some sound energy is absorbed within this range, depending on the frequency of the sound waves. It means that the paint does not affect the board’s acoustic properties, as there is no significant difference between the unpainted and painted versions. It demonstrates that there's no significant change in sound absorption due to the paint.

Smart White Projector Screen Paint Pro Installation

Smart White Projector Screen Paint Pro is a versatile solution compatible with a variety of surfaces such as plaster, wallboards, metal, concrete, wood, and composites, though it is intended exclusively for indoor use.

Before application, make sure the surface is dry, clean and well-sanded. Measure the desired area for painting and clearly outline it using masking tape. The paint is capable of covering a maximum area of 279 cm x 157 cm (109.8” x 61.8”).

Begin by applying two coats of Smart White Primer, which comes included in your kit. Before each coat of primer, lightly sand the surface. Allow the primer to dry completely, which typically takes around 2-4 hours at 20° Celsius, and ensure the surface is smooth before proceeding.

Ensure the projector paint is thoroughly stirred before use to achieve the best results. Use a lint-free short-pile roller sleeve or mohair for application. Apply two coats, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second, which typically dries within 2-4 hours at 20°C.
