Think it’s time to update your office? Consider adding functionality to your surfaces.

There are plenty of choices, magnetic, projection and dry erase. You can even transform a whole wall into a whiteboard wall with Dry Erase Paint.

In this post, we’ll show you just how easy it is to add a whiteboard wall to your workspace.

How To Create Your Whiteboard Wall

Worried about a complicated application process that might confuse your installer? Don’t be. Whiteboard Paint is so easy to install you could do it yourself.

Here are the easy to follow steps.

Measure

  • First, measure your area, making sure you have enough paint. (Whiteboard Paint should only be used to cover the recommended area).

Prepare Your Wall

  • Cover and protect the area surrounding your wall.
  • Check for holes and cracks in the surface and fill any you find with decorating filler.
  • Use a sanding block to smooth the filled surface. You get one in your kit.

Priming Your Surface

  • Stir primer or sealer thoroughly before use.

Whiteboard Paint White

  • Apply 2 coats of primer (3 for fresh plaster) before you apply your whiteboard paint.

Please note: Ordinary emulsion / latex paint is not suitable as a primer.

Whiteboard Paint Clear

For Whiteboard Paint Clear you only need a primer when applying on these surfaces:

  • New wood or composite material
  • New porous or dry materials such as plaster or concrete
  • Porous surfaces like wallpaper

Use any roller or brush to apply the primer, just make sure the surface is clean and dry prior to application.

  • Drying time takes 2-4 hours between coats and 12 hours after the final coat has been applied. Primers and Sealers are available to purchase from our website and can be shipped worldwide.

Whiteboard Paint Application

Please note this must be applied with a new roller as any contact with water or solvents will affect your whiteboard wall and its performance.

Larger rollers can be used. We recommend a high quality foam or mohair roller. If you are using a mohair roller, remove all loose fibres before use. Note a roller and roller handle are included in your kit (quantity depends on kit size).

  • Pour all Part As into Part B and stir for no less than 5 minutes.
  • Once mixed, you must apply the paint in 1 hour (high temperatures will reduce this time).
  • Whiteboard Paint must be applied in 1 metre sections.
  • In one coat of paint, pass the roller over the entire surface 10 times to ensure a generous, smooth and even coating.
  • Examine each section of the surface as you complete it, ensuring no pinholes.
  • Ensure each metre section has adequate Smart Whiteboard Paint to create a writing surface, before moving on to the next one metre section.

Drying Time

  • Stick up the ‘Ready to Use’ date (seven days from application) when users will be able to start writing on and wiping off the new Smart Surface.
  • Smart Whiteboard Paint will be touch dry after five hours.
  • Smart Whiteboard Paint will be a whiteboard surface ready for use after seven days.

Please note: The performance (erasability) of Smart Whiteboard Paint will continue to improve over the first 30 days. During the first 14 days we recommend cleaning your surface daily.
