Smart Wall Paint can be applied to almost any smooth surface or material, however porous surfaces or existing coatings must be primed/sealed before applying Smart Wall Paint.


Q: Can it be applied on any surface?
A: Smart Wall paint can be applied to almost any smooth surface (glass, metal, concrete, wood...etc…). If you are If you are using Smart Wall Paint Clear over an existing coloured surface, we recommend you use Smart Wall Paint Clear Sealer.


Q: Why should I apply primers / sealers before applying Smart Wall Paint ?
A: Primers and Sealers help give a surface a smooth finish. Secondly, they act to 'seal' a surface. This means that when you apply Smart Wall Paint on a surface that has been primed / sealed, the properties within our whiteboard paint will stay on the wall rather than be absorbed into the wall. In summary, using a primer or sealer means you will get a smoother surface with optimum write-on wipe-off functionality.


Smart Wall Paint White works best when applied over a white surface, it is essential to use a white primer before applying Smart Wall Paint white.  Smart Wall Paint Clear can be applied over any colour.  For best results use Smart Wall Paint White over a white surface. In some cases Smart Wall Paint Clear may "wet" and slightly chance the colour of a white surface.  

 

Q: Can I paint onto glass?
A: Yes, for a white finish apply Smart Wall Paint White Primer first. For a transparent finish, apply Smart Wall Paint Clear directly to the glass.

 

Q: Can I paint onto wood?
A: Yes, ensure that the surface is smooth before application, fill any holes with a filler and then apply Smart Wall Paint White Primer/Clear Sealer prior to applying Smart Wall Paint White/Clear. Sand after each coat of primer/sealer and re-apply primer/sealer as required

 

Q: Can I paint over wallpaper?
A: Yes, for a white finish apply 1-2 coats of our White Primer. For a clear/transparent finish use 1-2 coats of our Clear Sealer if the wallpaper is quite porous.

 

Q: Can it be used outside?
A: Yes our product has been tested to withstand temperatures up to minus 16 degrees celsius. Please note it should not be stored for an extended period of time below zero. Smart Wall Paint is UV light (ultraviolet) resistant.


Q: Will the walls yellow in sunlight?
A: Smart Wall Paint is used in very hot climates all over the world including the Middle East and Australia. UV resistance means that interior surfaces with Smart Wall Paint will also not yellow, even in the hottest conditions.


Q: Can I use it on floors ?
A: Smart Wall Paint has not been tested for slip resistance and as with any painted finish it could wear according to the traffic on it. Our performance guarantee is as a dry erase paint and does not extend beyond that.


Q: Can I use Smart Wall Paint to repair an existing dry erase / whiteboard?
A: Smart Wall Paint is an ideal dry erase repair product for most surfaces. Smart Wall Paint can be applied directly onto existing whiteboards without any primers, just ensure all marker residue has been removed. For blackboards we recommend you wipe the surface down with a damp cloth to remove any old chalk. Next coat the blackboard with a coat of Smart Wall Paint white water based primer. To complete, apply Smart Wall Paint.

 

Q: Can I project on to it? – Will there be a reflection?
A: Smart Wall Paint can be used as a projector surface although it was not designed for this purpose. Many of our customers use Smart Wall Paint as projector surfaces both for education and business. Within our company, we have only ever used our own product for this purpose. If you notice a 'hotspot' on the surface, simply re-angle your projector to eliminate it.
