Sproose is a dynamic young Irish company rapidly making strides in both the US and the UK as well as its home base in Ireland.
The developer of an app which greatly simplifies operations for the dry cleaning industry, it has grown from its initial launch in May 2015, to its present position as a client of Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up Programme (HPSUP), having attracted significant investor interest after its founders, Conor Wilson and Pat McKenna, both still in their 20s, appeared on RTE’s (Irish State broadcaster’s) Dragons’ Den TV programme last year (2016).
After Dragons’ Den, Conor recalls, “we were suddenly overwhelmed by work,” and the necessary rapid expansion brought new problems: “the skills deficit, how to get the right people on board.”
As part of their answer to this significant challenge, Sproose turned to Smarter Surfaces, particularly Smart 2-in-1 Wallcovering: Projector & Dry Erase. Conor describes the dramatic difference it made:
“Before we bought Smarter Surfaces’ Smart 2-in-1 Wallcovering: Projector & Dry Erase we were using really small whiteboards. We found that was really troublesome because you want to put messages up on the walls that you want to stay there, to re-iterate points to everyone in the team, so having a (much) bigger space was a necessity for us.
“I think the Smart 2-in-1 Wallcovering: Projector & Dry Erase is incredibly beneficial to our company. You really don’t know your company until you have it all up on the wall and see all your numbers and be constantly changing, and having that visual there. This functionality really guides the team as to where we are going, where we are doing well, where we are falling short, and what needs to be done. Visuals in a company are really key.
“I think the Dry Erase and Projector functionality work well together, because often with a projector you have a static image, and you want to make it a dynamic image, so allowing different members come in and have their say in a here-and-now situation is really very useful.
“If I had to sum up the products I’d say Smarter Surfaces’ products allows you to visualise your business and all the staff to visualise the business and where you are going as a company.”
Pat McKenna, in a joint interview with technology website Irish Tech News’ Ronan Leonard earlier this year, made another highly relevant point about Smarter Surfaces’ usefulness for companies like theirs, with a necessarily highly skilled and perhaps international workforce.
“Everyone who comes to the team brings their own character and skill set. You want to ensure they’re fully involved , fully invested and fully unafraid. These are top guys and girls and they have their own ideas which we need to know.”
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Smarter Surfaces’ Smart 2-in-1 Wallcovering: Projector & Dry Erase products help you get the most from your spaces, and your staff!
